Job Description The ER Lawyer oversees Montu’s Employee Relations frameworks, processes, and practices, ensuring they are practical and compliant with regulatory and legal standards. Acting as the internal Subject Matter Expert, this role provides expert guidance and technical advice on complex ER matters and personally represent Montu as our in house counsel. You will collaborate with key stakeholders, including the People Partnering team and people leaders, to execute ER initiatives effectively. Key Responsibilities Employee Relations Case Management Provide strategic guidance on ER cases, ensuring risk mitigation and compliance. Support People Partners on moderate-complexity cases; lead high-risk or high-profile cases. Conduct investigations for moderate to high-risk cases and all senior management cases. Advise on general protections, unfair dismissal risks, and other ER-related risks. Represent Montu in mediations or hearings as needed. Manage external legal counsel and investigators. Maintain accurate case records and documentation. Employee Relations Framework Develop, update, and ensure compliance with ER policies, procedures, and frameworks. Oversee employment contracts to mitigate ER risks. Enable the People & Talent team with structured frameworks for: Fair and defensible investigations and disciplinary processes. Compliance with Award and Fair Work obligations in organisational changes. Strategic and legally sound approaches to managed exits. Manage government compliance submissions (e.g., WGEA). Employee Relations Business Capability Identify ER skill gaps and collaborate on capability-building initiatives. Analyze ER data to detect trends and proactively mitigate risks. Stay updated on legislative changes, drafting insights for leadership. Interpret and apply employment legislation to align business strategy with compliance.
