We are currently seeking parks & garden staff for a local city council. This is a casual position that will run until the end of August 2025. Duties Include: Horticultural activities including; weeding, pruning, digging, raking, mulching, planting, spraying (with approved insecticides and herbicides) and mowing in accordance with established maintenance programs. Operate in a safe and efficient manner, a range of minor and specialist hand tools and minor mechanical plant up to, but not limited to, hedge trimmers, pole and chainsaws, blowers and other garden maintenance equipment. Report on a regular basis any issues (including non-area maintenance) in order to maintain and improve the standard of the City's assets. Promote input and new ideas to ensure improved practices are implemented within the work area. Share horticultural knowledge and advice to team members. Requirements: Current Basic Traffic Worksite Management Certificate. Experience in a similar position in horticulture role. Demonstrated ability to exercise horticultural skills using various materials and/or specialised techniques. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well within the team. Current National Police Clearance Certificate. Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
