As a Staff Platform Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in building and integrating scalable platform solutions across on-prem and multi-cloud environments. You’ll be part of a crew that powers real-time payments for millions of Australians, with a strong focus on quality, automation, and operational excellence. Your Impact and Contribution Reporting to the Chapter Lead, Payments Quality Engineering and Testing, you’ll own the end-to-end maintenance, quality testing and deployment lifecycle of payments platforms, ensuring seamless integration and delivery across environments. As such, your responsibilities may include, though not limited to; Designing, developing, and managing platform solutions that span on-prem and multi-cloud (AWS) environments. Leading CI/CD pipeline development and optimization. Implementing and managing a comprehensive test automation framework to ensure rigorous quality assurance across payment platforms. Building and maintaining ephemeral environments for testing and development, enabling rapid iterative development and testing cycles. Automating operational tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash). Integrating observability tools to enhance system visibility and reliability. Managing the full DevOps lifecycle, from build to release, with a focus on security, scalability, and performance. Collaborating with cross-functional squads to drive continuous improvement and innovation. Your Skills and Experience Proven experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles within cloud environments. Strong hands-on expertise in AWS, CI/CD tooling, and scripting for automation. A deep understanding of observability practices and tools. Solid experience in end-to-end testing, including test automation and quality assurance practices, with a focus on implementing robust testing frameworks. Experience in building and managing ephemeral test environments to facilitate agile development processes. Experience managing secure deployments and infrastructure-as-code.
