The Opportunity Hope Community Services’ Drug and Alcohol Treatment Service (DATS) in Geraldton provides free, confidential, and culturally safe support for individuals, families, and significant others impacted by alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. Delivered through a Continuing Care model, the program offers non-residential, community-based support for people transitioning from AOD treatment, promoting recovery, and supporting those who may need to return to either non-residential or residential treatment. The service also assists with intake and referral into AOD rehabilitation when required. Requirements of the Role: Deliver structured, culturally responsive AOD counselling and case management services using a stepped care approach matched to individual client needs and treatment goals. Provide comprehensive AOD assessment, screening, treatment planning, brief interventions, and psycho-social counselling to individuals, families, and significant others. Support clients with post-treatment care, including relapse prevention, ongoing support, and recovery-focused transition planning. Provide outreach services and ensure flexible delivery options including face-to-face, centre-based, home visits, and video conferencing. Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely client records in accordance with organisational and contractual requirements. Provide reports on clients through daily discussions, formal meetings, case management, and clinical review meetings. About you: Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, or a related field, or "qualified by experience". Experience in the provision of alcohol and drug services and knowledge of available community treatment options for the alcohol and other drug client group. Experience in the provision of counselling and mental health support, and knowledge of available community treatment options. Demonstrated understanding of the needs of individuals currently experiencing social disadvantage. Ability to work with people of all cultural backgrounds and work in culturally secure ways. Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills. Ability to liaise effectively with personnel in the private and government sector. Good level of administrative and computer skills. An understanding of and adherence to working within personal and professional boundaries.
