The opportunity Play an instrumental role in protecting Australia's most privileged information, capabilities and secrets from the threat of espionage and foreign interference. As part of the TOP SECRET Privileged Access (TS-PA) Vetting Authority, you will directly contribute to vetting assessments in line with whole-of-government policy and ASIO security policies. You will represent ASIO and liaise with a range of stakeholders and clearance subjects from diverse backgrounds. Vetting professionals also contribute to ongoing policy reform and vetting capability development. Multiple opportunities are available: • AE5 Vetting Assessors (APS5 equivalent) • AE6 Vetting Analysts (APS6 equivalent) We are looking for people from diverse backgrounds and cultures who can bring transferrable skills from professions including, but not limited to: • HR or procurement. • Defence, government, or policy. • Psychology or counselling. • Office management or business administration. • Consulting or contracting. A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies. The merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months. The key duties of the position include Role responsibilities You will directly contribute to vetting assessments in line with whole of government policy and ASIO security policies. You will gather and analyse information, making assessments and recommendations on a person's suitability to hold a security clearance. As an AE5 Vetting Assessor, you will: • Work in a team, conduct checks, and perform administrative functions to support vetting assessments. • Effectively represent ASIO through engagement with clearance applicants as well as external stakeholders. • With supervision, manage a caseload, conduct interviews as required, develop assessments, and provide advice regarding an individual's suitability to hold a TS-PA security clearance. As an AE6 Vetting Analyst, you will: • Assess an individual's suitability to hold or maintain security clearances that permits access to classified material. • Manage a case load autonomously, conducting interviews, developing assessments and making recommendations in a complex security environment about an individual's suitability to hold a TS-PA security clearance in accordance with risk management principles. • Use your excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills to build and maintain rapport with interviewees, effectively represent ASIO, and liaise with a range of stakeholders. • Provide mentoring and support to new starters and other team members on vetting analysis and assessment.
