Primary Location VIC - Dandenong Job Description Summary Service Stream has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Electrical Operations Manager to lead key maintenance delivery across critical infrastructure. About the Role The Mechanical Electrical Operations Manager will provide leadership and direction to their team, directing all activity necessary for the efficient and effective provision of exemplary service delivery to South East Water. This critical role will oversee the development, growth, and profitability of our Maintenance Contract, driving innovation, and delivering exceptional results. This role will require the operative to possess a deep understanding of the water industry, demonstrated leadership expertise, stakeholders relationship management and a proven track record of success. The Mechanical Electrical Operations Manager will have responsibility for operational excellence of the associated maintenance contract, accountability for operational maintenance, minor project works. Furthermore, this role will work closely with Contract Manager to ensure financially positive outcomes for the South East Water Maintenance Contract. Direct reports include Supervisors, Leading hands, field technicians and support office staff. The principal objective of this position is to undertake works and services including, but not limited to, the areas as identified below: Delivery: Ensure clear, effective communication of the maintenance schedules and associated requirements to facilitate smooth execution and management of all scheduled tasks. Verify that the maintenance schedules accurately reflect the necessary sequencing and success to preventive maintenance logic, and lead teams responsible to establish/update procedures to keep the contract/s aligned with the baseline schedules. Lead teams to implement necessary risk mitigation strategies to minimize the overall risk profile of the maintenance contract. Support the development, updating, and execution of client-focused initiatives, ensuring that all team members within Maintenance Operations fulfill their responsibilities effectively. Actively participate in the scoping, planning, quoting, design, scheduling, coordination, management, monitoring, recording, and performance evaluation of all maintenance activities required under the contract. Oversee the development and ongoing maintenance of the Works Program to ensure efficient, organized operations. Procurement, sub-contractor, supplier and resource management: Work closely with Works Coordinator, Supervisors and Leading Hands to coordinate all aspects relating to procurement, planning and organising resources relevant to maintenance delivery. Oversee purchasing strategies resulting in efficient and cost-effective procurement and purchasing of supplies. Review completed works to find efficiency gains. Health, Safety, Environment and Quality: Lead by example in demonstrating a commitment to Safe Work Procedures. Support the HSE Officer in ensuring the Health, Safety and Environment Management Plan is implemented in the field and that all subordinates adhere to this plan. Undertake or participate in any/all HSE activities such as LCP, SWMS, audits and incident investigations as required. Ensure that all team members undertake or participate in all HSE activities as required. Responsible for acting with regards to Quality Systems. Initiate and complete investigations of incidents, recommend rectification and confirm implementation of corrective actions. Investigate and approve implementation of non-conformances and requests for corrective action associated with quality issues. Participate in the audit process (internal and external), providing information to the Contract Performance Manager and/or external auditors. Investigate and implement corrective and preventative action requests. Identify and develop inspection methods. Key responsibilities: Client relationship Management. Managerial reporting. Provide visionary leadership, setting strategic direction and goals for the water business unit Develop and execute business plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives Lead and manage a high-performing team of office and field staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability Drive business growth through strategic partnerships, market development, and customer relationships Oversee project management, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of corrective maintenance projects Develop and manage budgets, financial plans, and resource allocation Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Commercial, HSE and Asset Optimisation Networking with key internal and external stakeholders to drive successful outcomes. Supporting and advocating positive Health, Safety Environment and quality outcomes. Overview of works costing framework. Experience required: 10 plus years’ experience in delivery of Water Maintenance Programs. Delivery of maintenance activities in both water and wastewater treatment and networks assets advantageous. Qualifications required: Preferable: Trade certificate and or Engineering Degree in electrical or mechanical. Advantageous: Leadership development training, Business Management and further studies in TAFE or university relevant to the role. Competencies required: Construction induction white card. Drivers license. Advanced user: Microsoft Office suites. Ability to provide on call coverage as a duty manager.
