About the Role As Senior Electrical Engineer , you will lead the electrical engineering scope for large-scale solar and co-located battery projects across Australia. You will work from early-stage concept design through to detailed IFC documentation, grid connection studies, and construction interface. Your responsibilities include PV layout and stringing, inverter and transformer specification, cable sizing, protection studies, grid modelling support and system integration. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders across development, construction and asset management to ensure designs are technically robust, economically optimised and fully compliant. This is a key technical role for an experienced solar engineer seeking to work client-side in a high-performing, well-resourced environment. Key Responsibilities Develop electrical design for utility-scale solar and BESS assets including HV and LV systems Prepare SLDs, cable calculations, protection schemes, and string configurations Support grid connection applications including AEMO submissions and DNSP compliance Specify equipment including inverters, transformers, HV switchgear and protection systems Provide design documentation from concept through to IFC level Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure smooth technical handover Support peer reviews and ensure compliance with NER, Australian standards and internal technical guidelines Provide mentoring and support to junior engineers within the team Project & Technical Scope Solar farm capacity: 50–300 MW DC, grid-connected and hybrid sites Electrical systems: LV, MV, HV up to 132 kV Tools: AutoCAD, PowerFactory, ETAP, PVSyst, Helioscope Design standards: AS/NZS 3000, 4777, 5139, 7000; CEC guidelines; NER Grid interface: across NEM regions including ElectraNet, Western Power, Powerlink, AusNet and Transgrid BESS integration: AC and DC-coupled systems, inverter-based resources (IBRs), EMS and SCADA interface Candidate Profile You are an experienced electrical engineer with a strong foundation in large-scale renewable energy system design. You understand the commercial and compliance dimensions of grid-connected projects and enjoy applying technical leadership to complex, utility-scale developments. You’re looking to step into a senior, client-side role where your engineering capability drives real-world delivery outcomes.
