Full-time Fire Protection Equipment Technician position available with competitive salary. Work in a dynamic team in Sydney NSW 2770. FINCO have a combined 15 years' experience specialising in passive fire protection solutions, helping to contain and slow the spread of fire and smoke within buildings. Our services include but are not limited to the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire dampers and passive fire across NSW Australia. About the role On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking a dedicated, self-driven and highly organized Fire Protection Equipment Technician to be part of their growing team. You will be responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of fire protection equipment and systems such as fire dampers and fire stopping. Duties and Responsibilities Install and maintain passive fire systems, including Fire stopping (intumescent sealants, fire batts, pillows, collars, wraps), Fire dampers and duct protection, Fire-rated walls, floors, and penetrations Conduct fire and smoke damper inspections and testing as per AS 1851. Carry out fire compartmentation surveys and produce detailed site reports. Apply fire stopping systems (sealants, wraps, collars, boards) to wall and floor penetrations for fire-rated assemblies Inspect and maintain fire stopping installations to ensure they remain intact and compliant over time Identify, report, and repair faults or non-compliant installations in both fire dampers and fire stopping systems Accurately document all work in line with compliance and client requirements. Read and interpret fire drawings, specifications, and the NCC. Work independently or in teams across new construction and retrofit projects. Liaise with contractors, building managers, and other trades onsite to coordinate work and resolve issues Follow all WHS procedures and company policies. Stay updated on fire safety standards, regulations, and new technologies related to passive fire protection Essential Skills Solid understanding of NCC, AS 1851, AS 4072.1 and other relevant standards. Proven experience in passive fire protection or a similar trade (e.g. plastering, carpentry, HVAC). White Card (Construction Induction). Ability to use mobile reporting tools or apps for documentation. Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements Good problem-solving and decision-making skills Strong attention to detail and safety awareness Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to read technical drawings and specifications FPAS (Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme) accreditation (Passive Fire), if any Physically fit and comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights Current driver’s license and reliable transport.
