This project aims to modernise and consolidate travel and expense systems to deliver consistency, improve compliance, and enhance user experience across the state. About the Role As part of a critical government transformation program, two senior professionals are required to lead and deliver the implementation of a new, standardised Travel and Expense Management System (TEMS). These 12-month contract roles— Principal Project Manager and Principal Solution Lead —will work closely within the same delivery team, sharing the objective of unifying and optimising travel and expense processing across multiple NSW departments. The system will integrate with SAP and support complex workflows for travel bookings, reimbursements, purchasing cards, and compliance. These roles will operate in a hybrid work arrangement based in Sydney CBD, with 2-3 days in-office attendance and flexible remote working. Key Responsibilities Principal Project Manager Lead the end-to-end delivery of the TEMS across multiple departments. Develop and oversee project plans, budgets, business cases, and governance frameworks. Monitor timelines, manage risks, and ensure benefits realisation and project quality. Coordinate cross-functional teams and vendor activities to ensure cohesive delivery. Provide timely reporting to executive stakeholders and manage complex interdependencies. Facilitate high-level communication, issue resolution, and stakeholder engagement. Ensure compliance with NSW Government policies and delivery standards. Principal Solution Lead Act as subject matter expert for Travel and Expense processes and systems. Lead solution design, including documentation, mapping, and process alignment. Define and validate testing scope and ensure end-to-end system functionality. Support integration with SAP for financial and payroll functions. Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and manage change impacts. Oversee system adoption strategies, including data migration and configuration. Work across transformation teams and policy advisors to ensure sustainability of the new system. About You Essential: Principal Project Manager – Requirements Essential: Extensive experience delivering large-scale enterprise system projects. Strong background in program governance, budgeting, and risk management. Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement skills across complex environments. Familiarity with Agile and traditional delivery methodologies. Desirable: Experience with implementing a TEMS. Knowledge of NSW Government frameworks and reporting protocols. Principal Solution Lead – Requirements Essential: Demonstrated experience in travel and expense management systems implementation. Strong functional knowledge of travel booking systems, PCards, VCARDs, and reimbursement workflows. Understanding of SAP integration for payroll and financial functions. Proven ability to create and execute test plans and system validation. Desirable: Experience working in large-scale or public sector organisations. Familiarity with FCM or similar government travel systems.
