What you will do as the Director, Renewable Energy Zones The increased complexity in the market means that the Network Regulation Division now includes a growing Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) branch, overseeing the implementation of the law, regulations and rules for the renewable energy zones across various states. As a Director, You Will Lead planning for, and management of, complex and long-term projects while balancing competing priorities and navigating shifts in the external environment. Lead a small team conducting analytical activities, providing geographically dispersed team members with clear direction, supervision, guidance, and opportunities for development. Spearhead the investigation and analysis of relevant information and develop insights, advice, and recommend positions for consideration by the REZ Committee and AER Board. Represent the AER in interactions with stakeholders; building constructive relationships with state government entities, energy network businesses, and consumer representatives. About You In order to succeed in the role, you will have: Well-developed understanding, or ability to quickly acquire an understanding, of Australian energy markets and the role, purpose, and objectives of the AER. Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate with and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Highly developed management skills, including the demonstrated ability to lead small teams; determine priorities and meet deadlines; and work with high levels of autonomy. Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking, including the ability to anticipate priorities and risks. Tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, corporate finance, law, public policy, engineering, or related fields with at least 8 years post qualification experience.
