Launching Writing Australia The creation of Writing Australia is a vital part of Creative Australia, providing direct support to the literature sector to grow local and international audiences for Australian books, planning for new investments and providing strategic advice. The establishment of Writing Australia was included in the Creative Australia Amendment (Implementation of Revive) Bill 2024 which was passed by the Parliament of Australia on 4 July 2024. It is the final piece of legislation in establishing all the functions of Creative Australia under the National Cultural Policy, Revive: A place for every story, a story for every place . Grow Writing Australia Represent Writing Australia to the sector and all levels of government and lead the conversations around the sector’s investment and development needs. Deliver Strategic Programs and Initiatives Oversee the development and delivery of initiatives and programs that support both emerging and established literary works. Launch Australia’s National Poet Laureate Lead the appointment of Australia’s first National Poet Laureate to strengthen public engagement with poetry. Elevate Australian stories Boost the visibility of Australia’s diverse voices and stories on the global stage.
