Position Overview: Amana Community Services is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our growing team. The OT will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic interventions to enhance the functional abilities and quality of life for our clients, particularly those within the NDIS and aged care programs. The OT will work collaboratively with our support workers, clients, and other professionals to deliver tailored services that meet the specific needs of our participants. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ physical, cognitive, and environmental needs to develop individualized therapy plans. Provide interventions and recommend strategies to improve clients' mobility, daily living activities, and overall independence. Collaborate with families, carers, and support workers to implement therapeutic interventions and ensure ongoing support for clients. Work with the support coordination team to provide recommendations and assist in the development of care plans. Advise on home modifications, assistive technology, and equipment to promote independence and safety for clients. Monitor clients’ progress and adjust therapy plans as needed, providing regular feedback to families and the ACS team. Provide training and guidance to support workers on how to implement specific therapy strategies in daily care routines. Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and ACS policies in the delivery of services. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of services at ACS, promoting culturally appropriate care for participants from diverse backgrounds. Required Qualifications and Skills: Degree in Occupational Therapy and current AHPRA registration. Experience in the disability and/or aged care sector, with a strong understanding of NDIS and aged care funding models. Ability to assess and provide interventions for clients with complex needs, including physical disabilities, mental health conditions, and age-related issues. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, support workers, and interdisciplinary teams. Knowledge of assistive technology and home modifications. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple client cases. Cultural sensitivity and the ability to deliver services in a diverse and multi-lingual environment. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client homes as required. Desirable Skills: Experience with Arabic-speaking communities is highly desirable, as we provide culturally appropriate services for Arabic-speaking clients. Previous experience working in a team-based environment. Bilingual skills are an advantage.
