Person-Centred Support Worker – Join a Compassionate Team Supporting a Young Person with Complex Needs The Role We are seeking dedicated, emotionally intelligent, and compassionate Person-Centred Support Workers to join our team. If you are committed to empowering young people, forming strong therapeutic relationships, and bringing a calm, proactive approach to behaviour support, we want to hear from you. You’ll be working alongside a collaborative, supportive team to provide consistent care to a young person navigating a range of complex needs. This young person loves playing Pokémon and Minecraft on Nintendo Switch, Port Power , Jigsaw Puzzles and Uno. While he lives with multiple diagnoses, trauma history, and emotional challenges, he’s also a playful, sensitive boy with a great sense of humour, who thrives with predictability, reassurance, and respectful connection. The Children and Young People we support may present with pain-based behaviours, including (but not limited to): Suicidal ideation and/or self-harm Property damage Verbal or physical aggression Spitting or biting Sexualised behaviour Withdrawal or emotional shutdown Absconding (leaving the care environment unexpectedly) Key Responsibilities Foster safe, nurturing relationships that help young people feel seen, safe, and supported Identify early signs of anxiety or escalation and respond calmly, compassionately, and proactively Provide emotional regulation support and de-escalation using trauma-informed strategies Uphold consistent routines that build trust and reduce anxiety Work collaboratively with teammates, families, and therapeutic professionals Support daily living tasks (e.g. medication, meal prep, bedtime routines) in ways that are supportive and predictable Ensure accurate documentation and uphold all safeguarding and compliance standards Encourage playful engagement through shared interests (games, arts, sports, pop culture) Participate in general household duties (cleaning, cooking, shopping) Shifts We offer a mix of casual and permanent part-time roles. Shifts follow a rotating 24/7 roster, including: 0700– 1445 0715-1500 1445–2300 1500–0700 (including passive overnights: 2300–0700) We’re Looking for Someone Who: Holds current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance , Working With Children Check , First Aid & CPR , and Driver’s Licence Has a relevant qualification (or is working towards one) such as Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Work, or equivalent Understands complex trauma, emotional dysregulation, and pain-based behaviours Shows high resilience, warmth, and professional boundaries Listens deeply, adapts easily, and never takes behaviour personally Brings consistency, calm, humour, and heart to their work Works well under pressure, especially in dynamic or crisis situations Can follow behaviour support plans with diligence and empathy What We Offer Paid buddy shifts with our experienced team so you feel prepared and supported 24/7 access to On Call Support A robust Employee Assistance Program Training in therapeutic frameworks and behaviour support The opportunity to build a genuinely meaningful connection with a young person who needs someone reliable, kind, and real If you believe that relationship is the foundation for healing and you’re ready to help a young person feel safer in the world, apply now to join our compassionate, committed team.
