Context Statement Taminmin College is a large, comprehensive, and complex Independent Public School that services the rural area of Darwin, catering for students from Years 7 to 12. Key Duties and Responsibilities 1. Actively participate as a team member, in the planning, preparation, implementation and assessment of individualised educational programs in a secondary special school setting. 2. Develop and effectively maintain appropriate working relationships with students with a disability and complex additional needs, families and work colleagues whilst maintaining confidentiality and mandatory reporting guidelines. 3. Manage and complete a range of administrative and clerical tasks that support student learning and reporting. For example, classroom and student resources, specific software plans, Educational Adjustment Plan/Individual Training Plan and student tracking data bases. 4. Administer and oversee first aid practices, provide medication, and respond to high medical needs to students in accordance with school and education departmental policies. 5. Prioritise and perform work tasks in a reliable and professional manner, whilst adhering to school and Northern Territory Department of Education policies and procedures. Selection Criteria Essential 1. Demonstrated recent high-level experience working with students who have significantly below average intellectual functioning, complex needs, challenging behaviours, and deficits in adaptive functioning areas such as communication, self-care, social/interpersonal skills, and functional academic skills. 2. Demonstrated proven ability to effectively communicate using various means of communication and display appropriate interpersonal skills with students in a school who have a diverse range of disabilities and needs. 3. Demonstrated experience and ability to perform essential clerical and reporting mediums within timeframes. 4. Demonstrated professional experience in working collaboratively with school personnel, professional teams, departmental officers, and industry that support continued productive partnerships. 5. Understanding and knowledge in providing first aid and medical intervention to individuals with high medical needs. Desirable 1. A qualification(s) or ability to obtain qualifications related to supporting students with disability in educational settings. 2.
