PD – Birthday Party Host - June 2024 Position Description Birthday Party Host Purpose The Birthday Party Host position is a casual seasonal role that supports the delivery of hosted Birthday Parties at Marion Outdoor Pool. The role requires understanding and awareness of all programs, activities and services. Effective visual and verbal communication is essential, to ensure all party attendees have an experience to remember in the safest environment possible. This position follows safe work practices and procedures and educates users of the facility on how to be safe in and around the Marion Outdoor Pool. Working with in the City Property Division of the City Development Department, you will contribute to the strategic outcomes of City of Marion and be pivotal in delivering exceptional customer service to our community. Key Deliverables Deliver a well-organised party whereby all participants are involved and enjoying their experience. Interact and communicate effectively with children and parents to ensure that they are enjoying the service they are being provided with. Increase awareness of other programs/activities/promotions that are organised at the Centre. Maintain order, control and ensure appropriate behaviour of party guests with particular attention to safety and proper use of facilities. Maintain and develop relationships with the Centre’s customers, particularly parents and carers of Birthday Party guests, providing excellence in customer service. Commitment to availability on weekends, particularly during peak periods (December, January, and February). Commitment to arrive at the centre 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the first scheduled party to collect equipment needed and prepare for the party. Attend schedule training sessions and staff meetings. Communicate feedback from customers to the Aquatic Services Supervisor. Maintain all essential qualifications for the position. Demonstrate and support the City of Marion’s values when working with others and the community. Desirable criteria Current AUSTSWIM Certificate. Current Pool Lifeguard Award. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Experience in delivering children’s birthday party programs. Knowledge Birthday Party Operations. Have a knowledge of First Aid procedures and practices. Excellent customer service skills. Experience of dealing with clients/user groups. Excellent communication skills with children. Standard conditions Satisfactory completion of a National Police Clearance (will be arranged by the City of Marion) Satisfactory completion of applicable Medical Assessment (will be arranged by the City of Marion) Must be either an Australian resident or possess the legal right to work in Australia, with the ability to provide documentation of a valid work visa. Comply with existing Work, Health and Safety legislation and regulation obligations and apply “Think Safe Live Well” philosophy.
