About Our Client: Our client is a locally owned industry leader in Cairns, specialising in the design, manufacture, and installation of high-quality vinyl and canvas products. The Role: We are seeking a skilled tradesperson to join a dynamic and supportive workshop team. This is a hands-on role responsible for the fabrication, installation, and repair of canvas and vinyl products across residential, marine, and commercial applications. You’ll be working with state-of-the-art equipment and a variety of materials including PVC, canvas, zippers, fasteners, and specialised hardware to deliver everything from shade sails and blinds to boat covers and upholstery. Key Responsibilities: Fabrication & Production: Operate industrial sewing machines and equipment to produce products such as shade sails, awnings, banners, tarps, canopies, marine and motor trims Cut patterns and materials accurately using power tools and fabric welders Assemble fixtures and ensure the finished product meets the highest quality standards Package and prepare items for installation or delivery Installation & Repair: Measure, install, and repair a wide range of custom vinyl and canvas goods Identify and carry out repair work including patching, resealing, and restitching Use mobile devices to record job details and updates Workshop Duties: Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment Participate in general duties such as stock handling, loading/unloading deliveries, and maintaining equipment Skills and Experience Required: Certificate III in Manufactured Textile Products (MST31022) or similar trade background Minimum 1 year experience in vinyl/canvas fabrication or similar textile trade Strong attention to detail, precision, and pride in workmanship Proficient with power tools, hand tools, and industrial machinery Able to read and interpret schematics and job specifications Physically fit and capable of lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods White Card (Construction Safety) – mandatory Desirable Licences (not essential): Working at Heights ticket Forklift licence EWP/Boom Lift ticket CPR and First Aid certification Why Join Our Client: Be part of a tight-knit team with a strong local reputation Work on a variety of rewarding projects across marine, shade, and commercial sectors Enjoy a stable, full-time role with long-term opportunities Learn and grow with access to modern tools and systems How to Apply: Ready to bring your craftsmanship to life in a role that offers variety, challenge, and stability?
