About the role As the Senior Library Officer you will work as part of a team and will be responsible for delivering high quality day to day customer experience services, plans and programs. This position will be based at Parramatta Library Key Responsibilities: Deliver proactive, high-quality customer service through roving support and deep knowledge of library services. Acting as Officer in Charge (OIC) when required. Assist with day-to-day operations including rostering, asset management, collections, and programming, and coordinate small projects to enhance service delivery. Support and train staff in using digital resources and library systems to improve efficiency and customer awareness. Ensure every customer interaction aligns with Council’s Customer Service Charter and Library Customer Care Standards, contributing to memorable experiences. Provide in-depth reference and research support to help customers access and navigate library information effectively. Selection Criteria: We are looking for someone with: Completion of an Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) accredited Course or (eligible membership of ALIA) and relevant experience.) Paid Working with Children Check. Demonstrated experience in staff management and project delivery within a public library environment, with a strong focus on service improvement and community engagement. Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to actively listen, communicate clearly, and build positive relationships across diverse audiences. Strong planning, organisation, and conflict resolution abilities, with proficiency in digital technologies, troubleshooting, and managing multiple priorities under pressure.
