Your Opportunity This is an on-site position based in Geraldton, and the Administration Officer is the first point of contact for clients and visitors both face to face and over the phone. You will be required to fulfill administration tasks essential to the efficient running of the services. You will be comfortable managing multiple competing priorities including requests and queries from staff, clients, and the public. Emergency relief helps people to address their immediate basic needs in times of financial crisis or hardship through material or financial aid (e.g., vouchers, clothes, and food parcels). Support is offered in a way that maintains the dignity of individuals and families and encourages self-reliance. You will support Emergency Relief that is available every Tuesday morning in Geraldton and Carnarvon, and every Thursday morning in Geraldton. As well as financial and material support, we also link people with services in the community to help them address the challenges that are affecting their financial wellbeing. Your Key Responsibilities Provide a welcoming and supportive experience for all people engaging with our services. Complete a range of administrative tasks including but not limited to taking phone calls, booking appointments, coordination of emails and mail distribution, ordering supplies, maintenance of electronic files, and processing accounts payable, to ensure the efficient organisation of the office. Highly professional and courteous, verbal, and written communication that is aligned with the Mission Australia Code of Conduct. Conduct Intake of Emergency Relief clients and arrange Emergency Relief appointments ensuring fair and equitable access. Refer Emergency Relief clients to appropriate services where necessary. Participate in Mission Australia’s and external quality improvement activities including data collection and analysis, program reviews, improvement opportunities and innovative practice. Requirements for Success Relevant qualifications (e.g. Certificate in Business Administration) and minimum 1 year experience in a similar role. Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable people experiencing a range of issues including financial disadvantage, homelessness, family and domestic violence, substance misuse and physical and mental health issues. Strong ability to deal with service users presenting with challenging behaviour with respect and dignity. Experience working with Aboriginal communities with a deep understanding and respect for the culture and protocols. Experienced in the use of databases and online information systems and records management with excellent analytical, literacy, numeracy, and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and a constant workload of varied administration tasks. Demonstrated solutions focused thinking and problem solving. First Aid Certificate. Full driver licence with no restrictions. Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
