WYRESH is a co-educational school delivering educational programs for up to 76 remanded young people at the Youth Justice operated Wacol Youth Remand Centre located at Wacol. It is intended that young people will only be held on remand at this centre for short periods. The curriculum will focus on individualised Literacy and Numeracy learning and Health and Physical Education, through the social development of students utilising restorative practice principles, and aims to prepare students for a successful transition to school, employment or further training. Our staff are passionate about helping improve the knowledge, skills and abilities of our students, many of whom have had disrupted or negative experiences of schooling and often have lived through complex trauma and disadvantage. About the role: Teachers will work collaboratively with the Head of Campus, staff across QETC campuses and key stakeholders from interdepartmental agencies to implement an improvement agenda underpinned by QETC's vision statement of "unlocking learning." The ideal candidates will have experience in student-centred learning with the ability to fulfil the campus's obligation to close individual skills gaps, develop language, positive behaviours and social skills and create future pathway opportunities. In order to maintain engagement of students across the year, Queensland youth detention centre schools' education delivery model runs over a 48-week school year. The employment entitlements for staff are the same as other State Schools however this model provides an exciting opportunity to access other flexible work agreements.
