About the role An exciting 18-month term contract opportunity is available working in our Environment & Sustainability team as a Sustainable Transport Education Officer. As the Sustainable Transport Education Officer, you will be responsible for promoting and delivering sustainable transport engagement across the community in relation to active transport for stakeholder groups. This position will be responsible for Community Engagement within the City of Parramatta’s Bike Plan and the Environmental Sustainability Strategy. Key Responsibilities: Implement policies, strategies and programs in relation to sustainable transport to the Parramatta LGA and Greater Parramatta precinct. Implement education initiatives in consultation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including Transport for NSW. Project manage the development and delivery of sustainable transport focussed community engagement programs including events, courses and activities. Engage and empower targeted community groups. We are looking for someone with: Tertiary qualification in community engagement, environment sustainability, social sciences or related discipline and proven industry experience (greater than 3 years). Current NSW driver’s license. Developed and implemented innovative education programs focussed on sustainable transport issues to a diverse audience. Demonstrated experience in preparing, developing and presenting formal presentations, facilitating training and learning programs to small groups and conducting meetings with diverse stakeholders. Experience in report preparation and in the development of policies, strategies, programs and management procedures. Empowered, engaged and influenced a diverse range of community groups to deliver outcomes in line with Council’s objectives. Highly developed organisational, project management and time management skills. Analytical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Experience in working with, or for, Local or State Government.
