We’re now looking for a hands-on, forward-thinking engineering leader to help us innovate and build our next-gen, subscription and API-ready SaaS platform for investors and enterprises. Why this role matters This is our first in-house engineering hire, offering a rare opportunity to lead both the technical vision and its execution from within. You’ll be joining us at a pivotal moment as we reset and rebuild: refactoring our code, resetting our platform for multiple user flows and agentic AI, and preparing to scale into new markets. You won’t just write code, you’ll influence what we build, how we build it, and who joins you on that journey. What you’ll do Take ownership of the design, build, and delivery of our SaaS platform, including architecture, infrastructure, security, product releases and quality. Establish secure, scalable, and data-driven engineering practices from day one, recognising the significant software build shifts underway in this age of AI Partner closely with product, data science and AI leads to bring intelligent solutions to life, productising and build scalable automation flows for data science solutions Determine the mix of bleeding edge and proven technologies to solve real world problems and address use cases, while building hyfen8’s technology-driven advantages Lead our offshore engineers, starting hands-on yourself, while establishing an AI/data-native high-performing SaaS platform engineering team as we scale. What we’re looking for Proven experience building technology products and leading software for product builds and business outcomes in high-growth or early-stage environments A track record of working with product and design to deliver data-driven SaaS platform products with a focus on speed, quality, security, accessibility and long-term scalability Strong architectural capabilities, with confidence in modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, DevOps, and TDD, and in infrastructure/data tools (AWS and Databricks) Curiosity and enthusiasm for AI, machine learning, data pipelines, automation flows, agentic automation, machine learning and the productisation of data science Someone who thrives in the controlled chaos of early stage startups, brings clarity and persistence and strategy, and builds with a bias to action, conviction and integrity.
