With over 45 years of dedicated service, EllieB’s is a registered NDIS provider and profit-for-purpose organisation delivering permanent and short-term supported accommodation, respite, and day options to people with developmental disabilities. About the Role As a strategic governance role, the Finance Convenorwill guide the organisation’s financial sustainability and long-term growth while upholding EllieB’s mission and values. You will also lead our Finance Committeeand engage collaboratively with the Board, Management, and paid Advisors who provide expert guidance in finance, legal, and risk matters. We are a carer-led Boardand a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Wehighly value the lived experience of disability and a strong understanding of not-for-profit. Key Responsibilities Financial Oversight: Review reports, monitor performance against budget, and flag financial risks Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of long-term financial strategies Risk Management: Assess financial risk and support mitigation planning Governance: Uphold robust financial practices and regulatory compliance Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively communicate financial information across stakeholders Committee Leadership: Convene the Finance Committee and contribute to other key governance areas Demonstrated financial expertise, particularly within the not-for-profit or community sector Strong strategic thinking and ability to interpret complex financial data Clear and effective communication across diverse audiences Previous Board or committee experience, with sound governance capability Understanding of disability, including social, health, and environmental perspectives Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, business, or commerce, and professional membership (e.g., CPA, CA) Key Competencies and Knowledge Ability to support strategic decision-making with strong financial insight Understanding of Director responsibilities—ethical, legal, and fiduciary Knowledge of human rights and disability legislation Familiarity with governance, quality, and risk frameworks Awareness of compliance requirements under NFP and NDIS provider regulations Capacity to identify and mitigate significant organisational risks Commitment and Expectations Attendance at Board and Finance Committee meetings (monthly, 11 per year; approx. 2 hours each) Participation in strategic planning, AGM, and ad hoc projects Attendance is preferably in-person, with virtual participation available Provision of a laptop and official EllieB’s email address for Board use Attendance governance training,EllieB's will cover costs for Directors What You Bring Integrity– You act ethically and in the best interests of EllieB’s community Passion– You are genuinely committed to EllieB’s vision and impact Respectful Engagement– You contribute constructively and collaboratively Reliability– You have the time and focus to fulfill your governance duties Apply Now If you're ready to make a meaningful impact, please submit your CV and a brief cover letter addressing the criteria.
