This federal government agency is responsible for national data assets that underpin public reporting, service delivery, and reform across the health and social sectors. The team you will be joining is a specialist group is focused on improving the quality and use of a program data including coverage reporting, cohort-level insights, and scheduled submissions for major stakeholders. With the recent additions of a PhD qualified EL2 and an EL1 with an applied maths background, the team is moving towards becoming more data focussed and mature in their capability. The work this team does plays a vital role in informing national programs, service delivery models, and future policy decisions for a program that impacts almost every Australian. The Opportunity You’ll be analysing and reporting on large, complex scientific datasets that directly inform public health policy and outcomes. The team is focussed on uplifting their data capability who encourages innovation and welcomes new ideas in how to do data better. This is a great technical development opportunity for a data analyst to improve their data engineering and potential for data science in the future. They have a flexible approach to in office attendance (Canberra based). The Role The core function of this role is to update, maintain and improve 5-10 major dashboards in QLIK. You will use these as you produce scheduled and ad hoc reports which could include reporting on numbers or % of cohorts. You will do this by performing data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to prepare datasets for analysis. The analysis you will be doing is identify trends, patterns, and insights related to this large and complex dataset. The ETL/ Data Engineering is moderate complexity (joins, filters, embedded queries). The Ideal Person This role will suit a high performing APS5 (or equivalent) looking to for a promotion or an APS6 (or equivalent) looking for a change. Technically Intermediate or above skills in QLIK (preferred) or Power BI/ Tableau is 1a with SQL being 1b as the ETL / Data Engineering is moderate complexity (joins, filters, embedded queries). Due to the nature of the work Australian Citizenship and an existing Baseline is mandatory.
