The Role: Our clients seek a highly motivated person to join their ambitious team in a newly created role of Farm Manager. The successful candidate will oversee the implementation of all cropping husbandry and ensure a successful cropping program. This exciting opportunity is for someone who can take ownership of their work, guide other staff, and look to the future for new opportunities within the business. The role reports to the owners and has ample support, and other permanent and casual staff aid in all operations. This is a working position, and our client is looking for someone with a working attitude who is not afraid to get their hands dirty to ensure all tasks are completed promptly and to a high standard. You must be enthusiastic, reliable, and honest to help nurture and boost this small team environment. The key responsibilities and duties include: Operate a range of modern, large-scale broadacre farming equipment through key seasonal events (e.g. seeding, spraying, and harvest), utilising precision agriculture technologies. Help implement the annual cropping plan, with special attention to timeliness and quality of spraying, paddock preparation, seeding, crop protection, fertiliser applications, and harvest. Assist in crop production decisions and implement agronomic practices and management advice. Undertake the seeding and harvest operations, including moisture management, sowing depth, and operations timeliness around upcoming weather conditions. General property maintenance and repairs Train, support and mentor staff as required Regular communication with property owners Record keeping of spraying, planting, and harvest logistics All general property maintenance and upkeep of plant machinery The Property & Employer: Our clients are a family-owned business that owns 2,300 ha on Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. This business embraces modern farming techniques, software, and machinery, including a 2022 Agrifac Condor self-propelled boom spray, Claas Lexion 8800tt header, one road train, 1 B double, Bredal fertiliser spreader, minimum till seeding equipment, John Deere tractors, and all equipment is RTK GPS ready. Maintaining and looking after the equipment is essential to this business and is achievable with a fully functional large machinery workshop to help with efficiency.
