Are you ready to take the next step in your ecology career with a consultancy delivering some of Australia’s most complex and high-impact infrastructure projects? We’re looking for a Biodiversity Lead to join our New South Wales biodiversity team which is part of our Environment & Planning Practice. You’ll lead a passionate team of ecologists, backed by a national network and some of the most respected experts in the industry. This is your chance to work on meaningful projects that matter — from renewable energy and major transport corridors to Defence, water and built environment developments — helping to protect and enhance the natural world while shaping sustainable communities. Key responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of ecologists, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture Provide technical oversight of ecological and biodiversity assessments including BDAR approvals, ensuring quality and compliance Deliver and manage projects end-to-end — from scoping and fieldwork to reporting, client liaison, and approvals Collaborate with our National biodiversity team to shape Aurecon’s ecology offering and thought leadership Through strong relationships with clients, consultants and regulators, work actively to develop the business and grow projects and the team. Support proposals, and strategic planning initiatives What you’ll bring: Be BAM accredited Extensive experience in biodiversity ideally within consulting settings with transport or energy market. Strong leadership and mentoring capability, with a passion for developing others. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver quality outcomes under time and budget constraints. Proficiency in biodiversity legislation, impact assessments, and approvals processes (including NSW BAM and EPBC Act referrals). Established presence in NSW with clients and regulators.
