The Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers is a dynamic and unique organisation dedicated to working to make best use of our water resources by delivering sustainable, safe, secure and affordable water throughout Queensland. The Corporate Services business area effectively manages the corporate functions within the department, ensuring the successful delivery of programs for the people of Queensland. Some key responsibilities and personal attributes include- Providing a high level of support to the Deputy Director-General Corporate and provide advice and analysis on a wide range of policy, strategic and confidential matters.- Maintain a high level of understanding of portfolio issues, priorities and policies to ensure that planning and delivery of activities are aligned to the Government's and Department's strategic direction.- Exercise judgement, authority and maintain high level networks to assist the Deputy Director-General Corporate in effectively co-ordinating the work of the division.- Coordination and quality control (and where required prepare and assist in development) of complex submissions and reports, presentations, speeches, publications, briefing papers, correspondence, and reports for, and where necessary on behalf of, the Deputy Director-General Corporate- Research and analyse critical issues to determine implications from a divisional perspective and facilitate an appropriate response.- Prepare, collate, and manage information for the development of reports, submissions, briefing notes, and correspondence for approval by the Deputy Director-General Corporate to the Director-General or Minister- Build respectful and effective working relationships within the division and across the department, to ensure collaboration, and on time delivery of accountabilities.- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Deputy Director-General Corporate, including supervision of staff and managing timeframes for response on urgent issues, to ensure the office operates efficiently and effectively.- Support the Deputy Director-General Corporate in building a high performing and positive culture within the division and across the organisation.- Other duties as directed and required What we offer- A supportive work environment- Training and development opportunities- Light filled, modern, energy efficient and secure office accommodation in- Brisbane's CBD- State of the art 'end of trip' facilities- Surrounded by greenspace, lifestyle facilities and the Brisbane River- Easy access to public transport Creating and maintaining a healthy and rewarding team and work environment is just as important to us as what we do.
