DIRECTORATE: Infrastructure, Planning & Environment CLASSIFICATION: Grade B SALARY: $61,623 to $71,482 pa 12% employer contribution to superannuation REPORTING TO: Trees and Streetscapes Supervisor, Gardens Supervisor or Parks Supervisor EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent Full Time THE POSITION: To provide labouring and maintenance assistance within the City Landscapes team and other areas of the Infrastructure, Planning and Environment Group as required. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To assist in the maintenance and cleansing of streets and drains. To assist in morning clean-up of commercial areas including emptying bins. To assist with the removal of all debris, litter, leaves aggregate, and clean up oil spills as necessary. Construction, maintenance and repairs of stormwater mains, cleansing and maintenance of open and piped drains, and residential stormwater systems. Assist occasionally with the operation of the street sweeper Inspect and action on Councils Customer Service work requests Traffic control and signage as necessary Operate data gathering devices and update relevant software packages Use all plant and equipment in a safe and competent manner. Ensure all routine maintenance to plant and equipment is carried out. Assist in development projects in the city’s parks reserves and landscapes. Use skills to assist other areas of Albury City as necessary Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training. Additional hours over the standard 38 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Medium Rigid (MR) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain) Construction Induction Card DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Chainsaw Level 1 Various plant licences Apply Traffic Control Plans (Yellow) or equivalent certification Traffic Controller Certification (Blue Card) or equivalent certification EXPERIENCE Relevant experience in construction related water and drainage construction repairs and maintenance Relevant experience in a horticultural discipline SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: A sound knowledge of small plant operation, tractor implement operation, garden labouring, sports field maintenance, spraying, arboriculture, turf care, street drain cleaning and maintenance and street sweeper operation Experience and demonstrated ability in operating various plant, which may include trucks (Medium Rigid Driver's Licence), tipping trucks, front end loaders and skid steer loaders An understanding of WHS and competence in performing tasks in a safe manner Fundamental literacy skills in receiving and executing instructions Demonstrated knowledge of all WHS requirements and practices
