The position will assist with the development of strategic plans relating to traffic and city growth and requires regular interaction with staff across council and with external stakeholders and agencies to achieve the expected outcomes. This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 35 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor. On occasions there will be a requirement to attend meetings and events outside of normal business hours. This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely. In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award, this position will attract a 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance, which is calculated on the base weekly rate of pay. This position is delegated with certain powers, authorities, duties and functions of Council under the AlburyCity Delegations of Authority in accordance with section 378 of the Local Government Act. This position is located at the AlburyCity Administration Building, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury with occasional visits to external sites/depots as required. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Degree in Urban Planning or other relevant field Class C (Standard) Driver's License (Compulsory to have and to maintain) DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Post graduate degree in Urban Planning Experience in customer engagement and facilitation EXPERIENCE Demonstrated experience in transport planning, strategic planning, urban planning, or similar field A minimum 3 years working in the transport industry or local government sector SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Thorough understanding and competence in the following areas; Transport Engineering and management practices Transport planning, specialising in placemaking Best practice active transport guidelines and standards Community engagement and consultation, including analysis of any collected feedback and data Demonstrated experience in delivery of objectives and actions identified in strategies and masterplans Demonstrated experience in development and delivery of policies and procedures Program management Standards and procedures relating to road design and transport management Acts and regulations relating to transport Road safety Programs and initiatives High Level of computer literacy and knowledge of relevant computer applications including MS Office, and design software such as Illustrator or equivalent
