Through strong partnerships with farmers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, schools, and place-based community organisations, Foodbank provides over 337,000 households each month with essential groceries and nutritious meals. Despite the size of its operations, Foodbank currently meets only half the need. The organisation is deeply committed to reaching more people, particularly those impacted by crisis, natural disasters, and entrenched disadvantage. The Impact of the Role The Community Engagement Team Leader will play a pivotal role in deepening Foodbank’s relationships with communities and enhancing the visibility and impact of its programs. Leading a passionate and skilled team, the successful candidate will design and deliver engagement strategies that support food relief, build local resilience, and ensure that the voices of diverse communities are heard and reflected in Foodbank’s work. Working closely with internal teams and community partners, you’ll represent Foodbank at events, forums and through partnerships, helping to ensure culturally responsive support during both everyday service delivery and times of crisis. You’ll also support schools through the Breakfast 4 Health program, ensuring children start their day with nourishment and connection. Key responsibilities include: Leading, coaching and supporting a small, passionate team of Community Engagement Coordinators Designing and delivering engagement strategies that are inclusive, community-led, and impactful Building trusted partnerships with local councils, schools, government representatives, First Nations groups, and multicultural communities Representing Foodbank at community events and stakeholder meetings across NSW and ACT Coordinating and supporting the delivery of the School Breakfast 4 Health Program Collaborating internally with Fundraising, Support Services and Operations teams to align activities Leading community outreach efforts during natural disasters and emergencies Monitoring engagement activities and reporting on reach, impact and areas for improvement About You You are a collaborative and values-driven leader who is passionate about working alongside communities. You bring strong communication skills, cultural competence, and a track record of building trusted partnerships across diverse settings. You will have: Experience leading community engagement, outreach or partnership programs within not-for-profit or community services – ideally with knowledge of food relief programs Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with community organisations, schools, government, and culturally diverse communities Experience in leading and motivating teams, with a strong focus on collaboration, inclusion, and assisting with professional development Strong experience leading projects from start to finish with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in dynamic environments.
