About the Role We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Chef/Cook to join our kitchen team in a full-time capacity. This is a key role that involves leading or supporting all kitchen operations including meal preparation, inventory control, hygiene compliance, and mentoring of junior staff. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting where consistency, efficiency, and quality are non-negotiable. This position requires strong culinary expertise, excellent organisational skills, and a hands-on approach to all aspects of commercial kitchen operations. You will play a direct role in menu execution, service flow, stock management, and kitchen safety. Key Duties and Responsibilities • Prepare, cook, and serve a range of dishes including breakfast, lunch, dinner, grill items, and rotating specials • Ensure meals are executed with precision, taste, and consistency in line with internal quality standards • Adapt dishes to accommodate dietary restrictions, cultural preferences, and customer requests while upholding food safety principles • Maintain excellent hygiene and sanitation across all food preparation and storage areas in compliance with WHS and HACCP standards • Operate and maintain all commercial kitchen equipment including fryers, grills, ovens, bain-maries, and cold storage units • Assist in planning, reviewing, and updating menus based on customer preferences, seasonal produce, and operational flow • Monitor food preparation and storage procedures to ensure correct labelling, temperature control, rotation, and stock management • Liaise effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure service runs smoothly and customer expectations are met • Lead or assist in training, supervising, and coordinating kitchen hands or junior cooks as required • Conduct routine stock checks, participate in ordering processes, and assist in managing supplier deliveries • Implement consistent plating techniques, portion control, and presentation standards across all service periods Skills and Experience Required • Minimum 2 years’ full-time experience in a commercial kitchen preparing a variety of dishes to a professional standard • Advanced knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods (grilling, sautéing, baking, frying, etc.), and plating • Demonstrated ability to lead service periods independently or as part of a structured kitchen brigade • Proven ability to maintain kitchen hygiene, manage allergens, and apply food safety systems reliably • Solid understanding of stock rotation, kitchen logistics, and time-sensitive meal preparation • Excellent communication and coordination skills, especially during peak hours or high-volume service • Flexible availability across early mornings, split shifts, weekends, and public holidays • Formal qualifications such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (SIT30822) or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (SIT40522) are highly regarded • A positive attitude, punctuality, and strong work ethic are essential Employment Terms • Base Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per annum • Superannuation: 11.5% • Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent • Minimum Weekly Hours: 38 How to Apply To express your interest in this role, please submit your resume and brief cover note to: Email: pavangolla549@gmail.com Shortlisted candidates will be contacted directly for an interview.
