We are recruiting a Fleet Transition Lead to join our business in what is an exciting and unique opportunity to work in Australia’s Defence environment and support national security requirements of the Nation. The Opportunity The Fleet Transition Lead is responsible for managing the safe and efficient transition of a new fleet of road fuel tankers from the fabrication and building phase into operational service. This role will oversee commissioning activities, lead the development of operating management systems, and coordinate resources, training and operational readiness. Key responsibilities: Fleet Commissioning and Handover: Coordinate site acceptance, inspections, commissioning activities and final readiness of newly fabricated fuel tankers. Ensure all road tankers meet regulatory, client and safety compliance requirements prior to operations. Liaise with OEMs, engineers and compliance officers to close out build phase issues and defects. Operating Management System Development: Lead the development and deployment of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and operational risk controls. Align operating documentation with regulatory and organizational standards, including dangerous goods transportation requirements. Operational Readiness and Transition Planning: Develop and execute transition plans, ensuring the seamless integration of new assets into live operations. Coordinate resource planning for drivers, dispatchers, supervisors and support functions. Support site-level readiness activities, including depot configuration and dispatch systems alignment. Training and Competency: Identify training requirements and develop induction packages for operational staff (e.g. drivers, operating coordinators). Facilitate the delivery of practical and theory-based training to ensure safe operations of the new fleet. Stakeholder and Interface Management: Engage and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including operations, HSE, compliance and the fleet maintainer. Provide regular updates to leadership and project teams on transition progress, risks and performance metrics. Assurance and Governance: Support readiness reviews, audits and HSE assurance activities related to fleet mobilization. Ensure all transition activities are executed in line with governance and assurance frameworks. Please apply, all applications will be considered. · Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. · 5 years proven experience in transport operations or fleet logistics roles. · Exposure to high-risk or regulated environments such as fuel, mining or chemical transport is strongly preferred. · Proven experience leading large-scale operational transitions or start-ups involving heavy vehicle assets. · Demonstrated experience in work instruction development and operational systems integration. · Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable). · Dangerous Goods and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) Training. · Heavy Vehicle knowledge.
