The Corporate Governance Team undertakes a variety of governance and corporate functions to support Senior Executives and groups to implement cross-agency initiatives. The team supports the department's governance frameworks, builds relationships and works collaboratively with a range of Commonwealth agencies, portfolio entities and other key internal and external stakeholders. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Corporate Governance, the key responsibilities of the Senior Governance Officer are: monitoring, reviewing and supporting the development of Ministerial Statement of Expectations for regulators, providing secretariat support for and oversight of 2 external governance committees and ad hoc support of internal Tier 1 and Tier 2 governance committees, supporting strategic review and oversight of the department's governance framework. The key duties of the position include Responsibilities of the Senior Governance Officer may include: proactively engaging with line areas on Ministerial Statements of Expectations and proactively initiating reviews when required, including engaging with external stakeholders and collaborating across the department, reviewing guidance materials related to Ministerial Statements of Expectations, supporting the department's external governance committees, including the Bilateral Management Committee with Services Australia and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) Governance Committee with the Department of Education, through: o booking and facilitating logistical arrangements for meetings in consultation with Senior Executive Offices and external secretariat teams, o coordinating and liaising with program areas to develop and maintain forward workplans, o producing electronic and hard copy meeting packs, o maintaining action item registers and liaising with program areas on actions arising from meetings, contributing to improved departmental governance through the production of guidelines, advice and the maintaining of the department's governance framework.
