This pivotal role is designed for an experienced legal professional with a strong track record in litigation and trial practice, who also possesses demonstrated leadership capabilities. The role demands outstanding litigation, trial, and organizational skills, with a focus on comprehensive case management from inception through resolution. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a robust caseload from initial complaint through settlement or verdict, exercising significant autonomy. Conduct and oversee all phases of litigation , including discovery, motions practice, and depositions (including expert and corporate representative witnesses). Serve as first or second chair in jury trials , executing all aspects of trial advocacy, including pre-trial motions, voir dire, opening statements, direct and cross-examinations, and closing arguments. Draft and refine high-quality legal documents , including pleadings, motions, and briefs. Negotiate and secure favorable settlements and agreements on behalf of clients. Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop and support compelling case strategies. Maintain proactive and empathetic communication with clients, providing regular updates and gathering necessary information. Manage case files meticulously and ensure accurate record-keeping. Attend court hearings and depositions as required, effectively representing client interests. Stay abreast of developments in relevant areas of law , ensuring informed legal advice and strategy. Qualifications: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Active admission and good standing with the State Bar of North Carolina. Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of experience practicing law. Proven jury trial experience , having served as first or second chair in at least five (5) jury trials. Required experience in personal injury law (plaintiff side). Demonstrated experience taking depositions , including those of medical professionals and corporate representatives. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills , with strong advocacy abilities. Proficiency in legal drafting and administrative tasks. Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail. Adept at effective negotiation on behalf of clients. Proficiency in legal research tools . Experience with legal case management software (e.g., Filevine) and cloud-based document management (e.g., Google Drive) is a plus.
