We are rapidly growing and are constantly seeking innovators to join us. Who We Need We’re currently seeking a talented and motivated Lawyer to join our Law & Trade Marks team in Melbourne. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a broad range of both contentious and non-contentious IP matters, and further develop your technical expertise in a supportive, collaborative environment. You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full spectrum of intellectual property law, including patents, trade marks, designs, copyright, and Australian Consumer Law. With guidance from experienced practitioners, you’ll build your skills through meaningful work, client engagement, and professional development. This role is ideal for a lawyer with 2–3 years of post-admission experience looking to deepen their expertise in IP law within a dynamic and innovative firm. Key Responsibilities Technical Expertise Assisting with advice in relation to intellectual property rights including trade mark, copyright, designs and patents and confidential information and Australian Consumer Law. Devising search strategies and drafting trade mark clearance advices Trade mark filing and prosecution before IP Australia and IPONZ Overseas trade mark filing and registration through overseas associate network Managing enforcement and anti-counterfeiting campaigns. Filing Customs Notices with the Australian Border Force and conducting brand protection training for Customs officers. Drafting cease and desist letters, pre-litigation correspondence and engaging in settlement negotiations. Assisting on trade mark opposition matters and non-use proceedings, including preparing evidence and submissions Drafting a range of intellectual property agreements, including assignments, settlement agreements, licence agreements and co-existence agreements. Client Relationship Management Build rapport with clients through prompt, professional communication. Take every opportunity to grow own understanding of the client’s business and commercial goals. Track and manage billable hours, WIP, and fee targets. Communicate capacity and progress effectively to supervisors. Marketing & Business Development Play a role in marketing and business development activities e.g. write articles for Griffith Hack’s website, attend industry events. About You Qualifications & Experience Bachelor of Laws (combined degree preferred). Admitted to practice in Australia. 2–3 years’ post-admission experience, ideally with exposure to IP. Skills & Attributes Excellent attention to detail. Strong research, analytical and drafting capabilities. Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities. A developing commercial mindset and willingness to learn. Ability to build strong relationships with a range of people. Why Us?
