The key duties of the position include The Role Intelligence (K&I) Directorate for the development and implementation of robust data exchange processes, navigating and leveraging the Defence Case Management System (DECMS), building data pipelines, establishing governance controls to protect privacy and legal obligations, and ensuring the consistency and accuracy of information released in support of Royal Commission in to Defence and Veteran Suicide (RCDVS) recommendation 23. In addition, this role will be responsible for: Developing, formalising, and documenting the end-to-end processes for managing and sharing data on service investigations and convictions Building and maintaining effective data governance practices to uphold legal, ethical, and privacy standards Responding to and coordinating external data requests Producing timely and accurate reports for release to external agencies, consistent with Recommendation 23 expectations Supporting the JMPU Systems team as required Exercising both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. About our Team The Joint Military Police Unit (JMPU) conducts specialist military policing from 26 Defence base locations, nationwide and overseas. The JMPU also offers support to the civilian police and the general community in Defence related matters. This position will give the successful applicant the opportunity to work in the JMPU headquarters, which is an integrated workforce within the Military Police environment. Within JMPU, the Knowledge and Intelligence (K&I) Directorate is responsible for providing intelligence products and information management support to the policing aspects of JMPU. Within K&I, the Systems team manages the use of the Defence Enterprise Case Management Solution (DECMS), provides support and produces reports to support informed decision-making for Military Police and a range of stakeholders for a variety of purposes. Our Ideal Candidate The successful candidate requires an advanced understanding of data management principles, analytical skills, and the ability to work across Defence, legal, and external agency environments. While expertise in DECMS-specific reporting will be developed progressively, the incumbent will bring a strong baseline of data analysis and process development capability to rapidly progress Defence's implementation of key RCDVS reform around reporting of Service Convictions.
