Duties: Assist patients to play games or participate in leisure activities which are organised by volunteers Conduct programmed leisure activities or hobby groups that are deemed appropriate to the patient group Encourage patients to do exercises deemed appropriate by the OT or allied Health staff Provide support for Breakfast Club Provide support and encouragement to nominated patients while preparing their food, snacks, tea or coffee Accompanying nominated patients to the Gym Support long stay patients and patients that do not have families Assist with iPad surveys Make up Admin packs in the ward and other general administration duties as required by ward/clerk. Assist visitors to find relatives and friends on the ward Provide non-clinical conversations with patients while sitting with them Orientate patients, relatives and visitors to services and facilities on the ward and hospital (e.g. cafe, phones, car parking, etc.) Replenish water jugs, refresh and arrange patient and ward flowers Stock blanket warmer Ensure patient and family fridge is suitably stock e.g. yoghurt, juices Ensure public areas such as lounges are tidy, clean and stocked as required, e.g. maintain tea, coffee, milk and ensure there are cups and spoons. Maintain the diversional therapy cupboard e.g. ensuring it is kept tidy and equipment is clean. Provide diversional therapy such as board games, cards, craft, café visits, sitting in the garden and walking within the hospital grounds Category Health Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Time Required Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (can be broken up into 9:00 - 1:00 & 1:00 5:00) * Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role should not be more than 15-16 hours per week.
