The Opportunity: The Territory Manager will lead the execution of SPC’s retail strategy across the Independent Grocery channel. The role is responsible for driving growth through outstanding in-field execution, territory management, customer relationship development, and sales performance management. This position requires a solution-based, entrepreneurial mindset to unlock new opportunities and accelerate brand presence across core and NPD ranges. Key Responsibilities: Business & Sales Development: Drive distribution and visibility of SPC core and NPD products across Fruit, Tomatoes, Beverages, Sauces, and BBS categories. Develop and execute targeted sales initiatives to increase range, share of shelf, and display presence. Identify and pursue new business opportunities with Independent Retailers and MSO groups. Proactively negotiate pre-approved promotional activity, secondary displays, and over-and-above support. Field Execution & Store Management: Execute field cycle priorities including: POS Installation Planogram implementation Display set-up and compliance Stock checks and inventory management Conduct regular store visits, aiming for optimal call frequency, reach, and coverage. Ensure best-in-class product placement, incremental off-location space, and display maintenance. Relationship & Stakeholder Engagement Develop strong relationships with store owners, managers, and staff to build trust and influence. Facilitate Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual strategy and business reviews with SPC internal stakeholders and partners. Act as a field-based liaison, feeding market intelligence and in-store insights back to national account teams. Performance Management & reporting Maintain full transparency on field performance through: Daily/weekly dashboards. KPI compliance and scorecard reviews. Reporting on time in store, SPC product focus, and execution standards. Monitor territory performance and provide clear, actionable insights to drive improvement. Coach and guide field teams to uplift capability and execution standards. The successful candidate will have: Ideal Minimum 1–3 years’ experience in FMCG or retail field sales, preferably within the Independent Grocery sector. Demonstrated success in territory management and sales growth. Proficiency in sales reporting tools and Microsoft Office. Experience with promotional planning and store-level negotiations. Familiarity with merchandising execution and compliance standards. Confident, articulate, and professional presentation. Strong negotiation and influencing capabilities. Knowledge of retail operations and planogram compliance. Self-motivated and solution-oriented with high initiative. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Territory and time management expertise. Current drivers licence.
