We are currently seeking a General Ledger Accountant who will be responsible for preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and supporting the preparation of financial statements. The position will work closely with operations, supply chain, and the global finance team to ensure the reliability of financial data, particularly around manufacturing and inventory accounting. Day-to-day responsibilities include: GL Accounting and journal entries, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in line with AASB, US GAAP, and Boart Longyear policies, Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and ad hoc adjustments, Review and adjust inventory and fixed asset entries in coordination with operations and supply chain, Month-end close and financial reporting activities to meet local and corporate reporting deadlines, Prepare and submit financial reports, working papers, and schedules for local and consolidated financial statements, Assist in the preparation of internal reporting packages and variance analysis for review by the regional finance manager, Perform timely reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, including bank, inventory, payroll, and intercompany accounts, Investigate and resolve discrepancies and reconciling items, escalating issues as needed, Support internal and external audits by preparing requested schedules, documentation, and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and external regulatory requirements, Assist in implementing audit recommendations and strengthening internal control procedures, Assist in tracking standard costs, bill of materials (BOMs), and cost of goods sold (COGS) movements, Contribute to inventory cycle counts, physical stock audits, and related reconciliations, Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes, Engage with business stakeholders in operations, procurement, and shared services to resolve accounting queries and improve data flow, Support finance business partners by providing financial data and reports as required. A few other things we’re looking for: Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3–5 years of experience in general ledger accounting, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment Solid understanding of AASB and working knowledge of US GAAP Experience with ERP systems (Oracle highly desirable) Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, reconciliations, lookups) Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities independently Desirable: CPA or CA qualified, or working toward certification Experience in inventory and manufacturing cost accounting Understanding of SOX/internal control framework Experience working in a multinational company or matrix structure In return, you will receive: Competitive salary package Western suburbs location with on-site parking Work within a global business with training and career development opportunities Our People At Boart Longyear, people are our most important asset.
