In this position you will join our Environment and Planning Advisory business, where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across the energy, government, transport, water and precincts sectors with a particular focus on systems and networks that support cities and the built environment. You will lead in the management of multidisciplinary infrastructure and precinct scale developments and possess a knowledge and understanding of areas such as land use planning, regulatory approvals, strategic planning and environmental planning. You will be part of a team that seeks to coordinate and facilitate a ‘connected’ Aurecon, where you will draw upon your strong interpersonal skills and the technical expertise of the business to facilitate our clients in decision making phases of the project lifecycle particularly in relation to strategic planning, environmental and planning assessment and project optionality and feasibility studies. A key attribute for this position is a strong understanding of statutory planning and environmental legislation as it applies to large scale infrastructure projects. Here is what you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’: Provide urban planning advisory and consulting services to public and private clients Lead the delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, focusing on statutory planning (regulatory approvals) and strategic planning to identify planning and environmental opportunities and constraints across master planning, due diligence, feasibility and design stages. Collaboratively working with other parts of Aurecon as necessary to leverage Aurecon’s technical ability to deliver planning advisory work. Engage and navigate clients through complex technical and legislative requirements, innovation strategies, frameworks and approval pathways. Exercise outstanding interpersonal skills to develop relationships with a wide range of clients and critical internal and external stakeholders. Support the growth of our team and expand our presence across all sectors by strengthening our capability in statutory planning approvals and strategic planning, as part of our broader Environment and Planning Advisory offering and a more connected Aurecon. What can you bring to the team? Firstly, you will be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. To be successful in this position you will have: Project experience (suited to your career status) at all phases of a project's life cycle and particularly strategic planning, feasibility studies, regulatory approvals, infrastructure planning and project management. Demonstrated ability to foster and grow strong client and team relationships, including mentoring and direct line management of junior team members. Demonstrated ability to identify planning opportunities, constraints and regulatory approval pathways across a range of infrastructure projects, supporting informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Strong communication (both written and verbal), problem solving, influencing and presentation skills to work on complex tasks across various sectors of the business while interacting with internal and external clients. Experience of working and supporting in multidisciplinary teams A Bachelor’s degree or higher in urban planning, environmental planning, urban design, or similar. This role is ideal for individuals with 8 years of targeted experience who are ready to take the next step as an emerging leader. It requires someone who can work autonomously, with a strong understanding of regulatory planning frameworks, and proven experience navigating these in the context of infrastructure land use planning, regulatory agencies and private development.
