Job Description Position Title: APS4 Finance Officer Employment Type: Non-Ongoing (Temporary) Location: Canberra, ACT Salary: $77,931 - $84,223 per annum plus 15.4% super Security clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain Baseline clearance About the Role We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented APS4 Finance Officer to join our client's team on a non-ongoing basis. In this position, you will be responsible for accounts payable and receivable functions, as well as actioning debt recovery processes. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial health and efficiency of the department's operations, particularly in supporting the branch's initiatives and projects. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable: Process and verify invoices for payment, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures. Maintain accurate records of all transactions and support financial reporting requirements. Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Ensure timely payments to vendors and suppliers. Accounts Receivable: Calculate, collate and send out invoices to clients related to special accounts and coordinated procurement arrangements. Monitor and follow up on outstanding payments, ensuring accurate and timely revenue collection. Debt Recovery: Identify and manage overdue accounts related to special accounts and coordinated procurement arrangements. Contact clients to arrange payment of overdue invoices, ensuring compliance with financial policies. Maintain records of all communications and actions taken, supporting transparency and accountability. Escalate to Assistant Director as necessary to recover outstanding debts. Skills and Experience Proven experience in accounts payable, receivable, and debt recovery. Familiarity with SAP, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and financial reporting tools. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly in a government or public sector environment. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in managing financial activities related to special accounts and coordinated procurement arrangements is desirable. Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related field is desirable. Eligibility Australian Citizenship is a requirement for this position.
