The role of the Operations Technician (Process Control Technician) is to participate in all aspects of the day-to-day operation and undertake responsibilities, such as operating and adjusting the equipment and systems that control the manufacturing process, within an allocated team in the chemical treatment production area of the plant on a shift basis. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: To observe all work, health and safety, environmental and quality programs, policies and procedures developed to meet the intent of the WHS, Environmental and Quality policies. Operational processes- Coordinate and control the operations activities in the rostered responsibility area – Materials Receivals, Delinting, Chemical Treatment, Nursery and Dispatch Set-up, operate the equipment and systems that control the treatment process such as PLCs, PID controllers, sensors, actuators, valves and pumps Test, calibrate the equipment and systems such as scales and pumps read and interpret technical documents like manuals, diagrams, schematics and charts Use of specialized process control software to record and analyse production data from the control room monitor readings and data from instruments such as flow, pressure, chemical composition Consult with the Team, Leaders, Shift Supervisor, technical and administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems; Monitor product standards, examining samples of products, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality Troubleshooting and diagnosing any problems or malfunctions with equipment Organise, report and follow-up routine plant maintenance General Operations Conduct “Fuzzy Seed Receival” procedures & operations for commercial and nursery varieties. Conduct “Fuzzy seed” clean-down procedures & operations for commercial and nursery varieties. Conduct “Delinting” procedures & operations for commercial and nursery varieties. Conduct clean-down procedures & operations within the “Delinting” area for commercial and nursery varieties. Conduct “Chemical Treatment” procedures & operations for commercial and nursery varieties. Conduct clean-down procedures & operations within the “Chemical Treatment” area for commercial and nursery varieties. Conduct “Bagging” procedures & operations for commercial and nursery varieties. Conduct clean-down procedures & operations within the “Bagging” area for commercial and nursery varieties. General Duties and Responsibilities: Any other task as required from time to time by CSD. Essential Requirements: Ability to work as part of a team as well as act on own initiative, work unsupervised, effectively prioritise workload and problem solve. Ability to work under pressure with a significant degree of initiative and autonomy. A strong safety focus and concern for the health and wellbeing of yourself and your work colleagues; The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and deliver information with a high level of accuracy; Current Drivers and Forklift License; Maintaining currency in fields of operation and undertaking required training; Following all Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Work Method Statements, Work Task Procedures and the CSD Employee Code of Conduct; Emotionally intelligent and confident to liaise with all stakeholders. Demonstrate attention to detail and organisational skills. Demonstrate understanding of HSE procedures and systems Demonstrate the application of continuous improvement processes. Willingness to develop leadership skills and undertake further professional development The physical capabilities and mental aptitude to undertake the inherent tasks of the role. Highly Desirable: Vocational or Tertiary qualifications in a related field; and Extensive experience in manufacturing Process Controls, or related area.
