SCBC are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Laboratory Technician to support the Science Department with the preparation, maintenance, and safe operation of laboratory resources. The successful candidate will demonstrate a service-oriented mindset, a willingness to learn across all science areas and school systems, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities and Requirements: Practical experience in a laboratory environment and a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (or higher). Understands and applies WHS legislation, school safety procedures, and relevant Codes of Practice. Familiar with ethical handling of animals and relevant licensing requirements. Committed to safe chemical storage, handling practices, and supporting a culture of safety within the school. Knowledgeable in risk assessment, hazard management, and chemical, biological, and physics safety. Flexible and eager to learn all aspects of the Science Department and school systems. Selection Criteria: Practical/hands-on experience within a laboratory environment. A service-oriented approach to all areas of responsibilities. Flexibility to learn all areas of the Science Departments. Be willing to learn school systems. Ability to work as part of a team and independently. Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or higher Possesses an understanding and knowledge of: o WHS Act, Regulations and relevant Codes of Practice in relation to School Laboratory o The school’s safety policies and procedures and may assist with reviews o Risk Assessment and Hazard Management Requirements for the Science Area o Chemical Safety in Science o Biological Safety in Science o Physics Safety in Science o Ethical use and care of animals, as well as other relevant licensing requirements o Safe Chemical Storage and Handling Essential Criteria: A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ. Active participation in a church or Christian community, exemplifying Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices. Acceptance of the College’s Statement of Faith. Ability to build cooperative and supportive relationships with the Board, Principal, staff, students, and parents. Commitment to personal best practice. Ensure decisions are impartial, fact-based, and fair. Model appropriate and proper channels of communication. Consistently act in the best interests of the College and its ethos.
