The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia's economic and national security landscape for decades to come. The APS 6 Work Health Safety (WHS) Specialist works within the Chief Operating Officer Division to perform complex work health safety specialist work within an integrated workforce. They work within a team and are to apply their specialist knowledge and understanding of WHS, legislation, regulations and codes of practice to support activities within the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA). The APS 6 Work Health Safety Specialist will: Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and assurance of a proactive safety management system in the Agency and continuous improvement of WHS policies and procedures relevant to the ASA activities. Provide detailed WHS professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. Research and develop solutions to ASA related complex WHS issues using specialist expertise, identifying alternative courses of action and implications for WHS activities. Collect, analyse, interpret and report on data to provide specialist WHS advice. Work collaboratively across the broader internal and external WHS community and with other work health and safety specialists to provide good outcomes. Engage with internal and external stakeholders on complex WHS matters, anticipating and responding to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and ASA outcomes. Evaluate activities and processes for compliance with WHS legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the ASA. Coordinate and manage the development, implementation, monitoring and performance reporting of WHS statistics.
