Chef Position Available – Compass Force Pty Ltd t/a Shiva Indian Cuisine Job Title: Chef Location: Prahran, VIC 3181 Employment Type: Full-time Salary: 70,000 to 80,000 AUD plus superannuation We are a renowned Indian restaurant dedicated to delivering authentic and high-quality Indian cuisine to our guests. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team and help us elevate our culinary offerings. Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and cook a wide range of authentic Indian dishes, including chicken curry, lamb saag, navratan korma, dal makhani, palak aloo, tandoori specialties, biryanis, and regional delicacies. Preparation of breads like Naan, Roti, Aloo Paratha, Chicken Paratha, Keema Naan, etc. Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of high-quality food in dining and catering establishments. Ensure the consistent quality of food and presentation, maintaining high standards of taste and appearance. Planning the menus, estimating food and labour costs, monitoring inventory and ordering food supplies. Prepare and cook food according to dietary and allergy requirements, ensuring customer satisfaction and safety. Discuss and develop new menu items and special dishes, keeping up with industry trends and customer preferences. Maintain a clean, organised, and ensure strict compliance with hygiene and food safety requirements. Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, cooking techniques, and quality standards. Oversee food preparation during busy periods, ensuring smooth service and timely delivery. Monitor portion sizes and food waste to ensure cost-effective kitchen operations. Collaborate with management to plan and execute catering services for special events and functions. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum qualification is a Diploma in Hospitality. Adequate experience may be acceptable in lieu of formal qualifications. Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Chef Deep understanding of traditional Indian cooking techniques, spices, and ingredients. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple orders simultaneously. Strong communication and leadership skills. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
