Springland Ag Contracting Pty Ltd requires several Senior Agricultural Plant Operators to oversee machinery operations on our clients’ farms located in Cressy, Tasmania and surrounds. As the Senior Agricultural Plant Operator, you will play a crucial role overseeing machinery operations, preparation of soil, production of hay, straw and silage, sowing and harvesting different crops, knowledge for fertilizing and spraying, managing plant disease and operating irrigation systems and carrying out minor repairs and maintenance in-field and in our workshop. This is a permanent full-time position with at least 5 hours guaranteed overtime each week, on average, for successful candidates. The role will be remunerated with a total base salary of $69,290 above award rate. This position requires the individual to work unsupervised both individually and within a team environment. Position requirements At least 2 years’ relevant full-time experience in agricultural machinery operations A recognised relevant Certificate II or higher Successful applicants are expected to: Have experience of operating different machinery (tractors John Deere 6R, 7R, 8R; Claas Arion 640, Case, New Holland, ATVs, motorcycles etc) and working with different implements: trailers, balers, tedders, rakes, discs, multi-discs, wrappers, rollers, power harrows, ploughs, seeders, windrowers etc. Perform all pre-start safety checks and ensure machine is working appropriately to complete the assigned task safely Knowledge of correct implement and tractor needed to perform the assigned job and coupled safely and correctly Ensure machine and implement are correctly transported either floated or driven to the location of the job, including all appropriate signage, flag and safely secured in place Knowledge that the ground or crop is in the appropriate state for the task to be performed Prepare the machine and implement for the assigned task. This includes, but not limited to correct seed, fertiliser and calibrating rates. Correct depth of seed application or discs etc for cultivation of the ground. This requires constant monitoring to ensure desired results are obtained. Operating tractor and implement in appropriate way to ensure best practice is always the priority Operating and managing the correct process with the wrapping of silage Servicing plant and performing minor repairs both in field and in workshop Ability to assist and work with others on minor repairs Accurately keep records using software to ensure correct information about production, crop and quality is recorded correctly and work reports are submitted in a timely fashion All applicants are to email cover letter and CV to springlandag@gmail.com
