The Opportunity As our Founding Head of Engineering, you will be the technical architect and builder of our MVP and future platform. Youll work directly with the founders, owning everything from system design to deployment, and set the foundation for our engineering culture and processes. Key Responsibilities Lead Product Development: Architect, build, and iterate on the MVP and subsequent versions of our marketplace platform using Angular (frontend) and Java (backend). Full Ownership: Take full ownership of the technical stack, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines as a solo engineer in the early stage. Adapt and Execute: Rapidly prototype, validate, and launch new features based on customer feedback and market needs. Technical Leadership: Make critical decisions on architecture, scalability, and best practices, laying the groundwork for future engineering hires. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the founders and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives. Generalist Mindset: Handle everything from coding and DevOps to troubleshooting, integrations, and customer demos as needed. Establish Best Practices: Set up engineering processes, documentation, and standards to ensure code quality and maintainability for future growth. What Were Looking For Experience: 5 years building web applications, ideally with experience in startups or greenfield projects. Tech Stack: Strong hands-on expertise in Angular (frontend) and Java (backend). Experience with cloud deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus. Builder Mentality: Proven ability to build MVPs quickly, iterate based on feedback, and operate autonomously. Ownership: Willingness to take end-to-end responsibility for technical outcomes and business impact. Versatility: Comfortable wearing multiple hatscoding, DevOps, architecture, and occasional customer/product support. Communication: Excellent communicator who can translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and work closely with the founding team.
