About the Role This hands-on Bridge Carpenter position plays a vital role in the upkeep and safety of bridges and drainage structures throughout the Riverina region. Based out of Wagga Wagga, this role involves extensive travel and overnight stays, with most assignments conducted in remote or regional areas. Working within a supportive and safety-focused crew, you’ll apply your trade skills on a rotating 9-day fortnight roster, contributing to essential infrastructure upgrades and repairs. The role is offered on a fixed-term basis with competitive trade pay rates aligned to your experience level. Wagga Wagga $46.74/hr (PP15) or $47.85/hr (PP18) super penalties 8.5 hours/Day, 76 hours/fortnight, 9 day fortnight Living Away From Home Allowances paid 90% of your time will be spent camped away from the Wagga Wagga Depot 6-month contract Key Responsibilities Carry out bridge carpentry and timber maintenance tasks to standard Repair and construct timber, steel, and concrete bridge components Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions Operate power tools and machinery in line with safety procedures Conduct site preparation and clean-up on remote project locations Work cooperatively within a mobile crew and assist in other duties as required Uphold Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards on all sites Participate in toolbox talks and report incidents or hazards Perform manual labouring and structural works in varied weather conditions Travel frequently and stay in remote accommodation (camping away from home) About You Qualified Carpenter – Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade credentials Previous experience in bridge construction or maintenance preferred White Card (General Construction Induction) – mandatory WOF (Work on Foot) and Traffic Control tickets – current or willing to obtain Current C Class driver’s licence or above – unrestricted Ability to work effectively in outdoor, remote, and team-based settings Demonstrated understanding of WHS obligations and safe work practices Physically fit and capable of handling demanding manual tasks Must have Australian working rights (Citizenship, PR or valid long-term visa only) Police Check required (can commence pending clearance; any findings will result in immediate dismissal) Application Process Important: We prioritise candidates that touch base before any job search.
