Lead, mentor, and manage the operational performance of the team/unit, ensuring the provision of a safe and high-quality clinical service, including maintaining high clinical and professional standards within the service/department. Provide relevant advice, clinical expertise, and support to the Nursing Director Operations, Executive Director Medical Services, and the Executive team as required. Provide specialist medical care to patients attending the hospital/service. This is a fixed-term, full-time, day worker position (with on-call), working up to 76 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible for a three-year period. We seek a motivated and experienced Clinical Director – Medicine for the Department of Health across the North West region. The role requires strategic leadership, resource management, service integration, and direct clinical care. The North West region services a population of approximately 116,000, with major sites at North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and Mersey Community Hospital (MCH). The department provides a range of services, including acute and sub-acute general medicine, intensive care, cardiology, neurology, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, respiratory, nephrology, endocrinology, geriatrics, and palliative care. The Department of Medicine holds accreditation with RACP for basic and advanced physician training, with both hospitals serving as training sites. This position is ideal for highly skilled medical professionals passionate about healthcare improvement and system development. Subspecialty interests are advantageous. The DoH offers a comprehensive training program in partnership with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School. The successful applicant will help lead the undergraduate general medical education program. Specialist Medical Practitioners Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range ($300,216 - $310,389) depends on meeting specific criteria outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award. Salary range in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.
