We’re currently looking for a Technical Superintendent to join our team on a permanent full-time basis, based at our Port Melbourne, VIC office. This position offers a balance between office-based responsibilities and time spent visiting our vessels across our Victorian operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a marine engineer who’s looking to transition onshore into a strategic and hands-on leadership role. What You Can Expect This is an excellent opportunity to apply your marine engineering expertise to drive operational performance, ensure technical reliability, and support continuous improvement across our Victorian fleet. You’ll play a hands-on role in solving complex technical issues, guiding maintenance activities, and contributing to the strategic direction of our technical operations. Key Responsibilities Reporting into the local Port Manager, your responsibilities in this role will include: Providing technical advice to management on fleet condition and any issues affecting vessel availability. Assisting with maintenance and crew management using computer-based planned maintenance and procurement systems. Supporting the preparation of dry-docking specifications, maintenance budgets, and expenditure monitoring. Collaborating with management to plan maintenance schedules, labor requirements, and work programs. Monitoring and coordinating statutory requirements for vessel surveys and audits. Managing inventory control of stores and spare parts, including procurement from local suppliers and service contractors. Coordinating repair work, safety inspections, and equipment supply in alignment with production schedules. What You Need to Succeed To thrive in this role, you should demonstrate: Marine engineering experience, ideally supported by a trade or maritime qualification. Experience leading teams of engineers and coordinating external service contractors. Sound knowledge of mechanical systems including diesel engines, power generation, propulsion systems, and hydraulics. Experience working with classification societies and statutory authorities on vessel compliance and certification. A proactive, solution-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Competency with MS Office and a foundational understanding of network hardware and system architecture. Willingness to travel to port locations as required to meet operational needs.
