About the role We are looking for an energetic, results driven UG Shift Supervisor to join the Mining Operations team. The position will be reporting to the Mining Manager and be part of a team who are focused on working together to deliver improvement. The UG Shift Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operation of shift workers and equipment usage at BMTJV underground mine site in both production and development, with strong emphasis on safe production. To ensure all workers on shift are trained and competent to always perform their duties safely and productively. The position is being offered on 7 days on 7 off rotating shift roster. Core responsibilities Ensures mining operations are conducted in a safe manner and any safety issues are promptly reported to the Mining Manager. Ensures ore is mined efficiently to the satisfaction of geology personnel and ensuring targets are met. Performs the daily management, control and supervision of the working areas of the mine in accordance with all relevant Acts and Regulations. Oversees the mine and looks after BMTJV Pty Ltd interest with regard to duty of care to all employees, sub-contractors and visitors whilst also ensuring that each employee understands and accepts responsibility for his or her own safety and health and that of their fellow employees Organises and provides guidance to crews in regard to rosters and day to day running of the mine Conducts daily work planning meetings / toolbox meetings. Ensures new staff have been appropriately inducted. Oversees the training of shift personnel and to make sure all tasks given are conducted in a safe manner. Liaise with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding any repairs to equipment and servicing. Completes paperwork required by Site Administration with respect to shift workers’ pays. Complete and submit any Workers Comp, quality, etc paperwork. Submit incident reports in writing to the Operations Manager for incidents that occur on shift as soon as possible but no later than 2 days after the incident. About you You will be highly motivated with a minimum of 10-15 years proven supervisory experience working in an underground mining environment with excellent leadership, safety and technical skills. Safe production is a priority for you and you can actively demonstrate a detailed Knowledge and understanding of Tasmanian Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Duty of Care or similar legislation that contributes to making the workplace safe . Strong interpersonal communication and relationship skills are a must allowing you to possess excellent leadership skills and the ability to engage and build relationships within your team and various departments within the company.
